Jason Smith has been an educator in the Clark County District for 16 years. The first 10 of those years were spent teaching 5th grade, where he specialized in science education and social studies. During that time, Jason utilized STEM instruction, The JASON Project, and created a partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife with Trout in the Classroom. In 2013, Jason left his 5th grade classroom to take on the role of Technology Specialist. Some of his job responsibilities have been to integrate technology into the curriculum with K-5 classrooms, and help students amplify their voice. Jason was also responsible for the complete implementation, facilitation, and training of G Suite apps to his entire school community. With his background in broadcast journalism, Jason developed an after-school video production program. The program is for 4th-5th grade students who have a desire to develop skills such as: video editing, reporting, public speaking, camera operation, and directing. In 2019, he was selected to attend the Our Voice Academy, sponsored by The Edtech Team. Jason was born in Albuquerque, NM and has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1997. He graduated from UNLV with a B.A. in Communications and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. Jason also serves as a Varsity football at Desert Oasis HS, located in Las Vegas, NV
